Before you book
- Meets at the main Glacier Lagoon car park, east side of the bridge, about five hours' drive from Reykjavík; look for the 4x4 minibus with the Ice Walkers logo.
- A 40 minute drive and a walk of up to 10 minutes reach the cave; plan on about 3 hours total, with roughly an hour inside.
- The cave itself has gone by different names in past seasons, including Crystal, Sapphire or Sparkle Ice Cave, depending on which one the guides find safest that winter.
- Not suitable for people with mobility impairments. The operator supplies the ice-caving gear; bring your own warm, waterproof clothing and winter hiking shoes.
- Food and drinks are not included. Runs roughly October to April; departure times are chosen to avoid the busiest periods, though crowding can still happen.
