Before you book
- Meets at Tröll Expeditions' base in Hof, near Skaftafell, about four and a half hours' drive (roughly 320 to 330 km) southeast of Reykjavík; parking there is free.
- The hike onto Falljökull and the time in the ice cave last about 90 minutes together, after a short transfer from the base.
- Minimum age 8. Crampons, harness, helmet and ice axe are provided and gear-up happens indoors; hiking boots can be rented on site.
- Runs roughly October to April. If a cave floods, the operator may shorten the tour or swap it for a glacier hike and adjust the price.
- Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
